Engine Runs Too Slow

An engine that is running too slow cannot be ignored. It will cause the engine to have a definite lack of power and possible charging system problems if so equipped. More importantly, it will also cause an overheating problem. The easiest and most common solution to this problem, is to make a simple adjustment to the throttle cable and this is the only repair I recommend for the beginner. Other possible causes for an engine to be running too slow, would fall primarily into the governor control system and I do not recommend this type of repair for anyone other than trained service technicians. Tinkering around with governor controls can lead to a major engine failure in just a matter of a few seconds. If you decide to ignore the above warning and try to make adjustments or repairs to the governor system, be sure to purchase a copy of the repair instruction manual for your engine. BE CAREFUL
